A place to call home
Since its formation in 1985, Penkridge Juniors has has been a cornerstone of youth football in Penkridge and surrounding areas. With over 300 Boys and Girls participating in 19 Boys and Girls teams along with a Girls Wildcats and Boys Soccer Schools, the club has seen significant growth over the years. As the community of Penkridge continues to expand, so does the demand for more facilities to support the club’s activities.
Penkridge Juniors played a key role in the development of the 3G All Weather facility at Penkridge Leisure Centre back in 2015. Despite this excellent facility for our teams, the club is facing challenges in meeting the needs of its growing membership and is starting to outgrow Penkridge Schools’ footballing facilities.
The club is at a pivotal moment in its growth where it must address the increasing demands of the expanding community we serve. Establishing a dedicated ground has long been an aspiration for the club, symbolising a place of permanence and belonging, a place we can call “HOME”.
Securing a suitable ground would not only provide the club with a physical base for its operations but also foster a sense of identity and unity among its members.
This milestone represents a significant step forward towards ensuring the long-term sustainability and success of the club, enabling it to cater to the needs of its growing membership and contribute positively to the local community. By establishing a permanent home, the club can further its mission of promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and inclusivity among the youth of the village.
To ensure that football remains accessible to the children and teenagers of Penkridge, the club is actively seeking 10 to 15 acres (4 to 6 hectares) of land to purchase or long term lease in or around the village. This land would ideally accommodate multiple pitches for various age groups, training areas, changing rooms, toilets and a function room. Additionally, the club envisions the establishment of adult men’s and women’s teams, with aspirations of representing Penkridge in prestigous competitions like an FA Cup!
